Left Or Right Brain?
Saturday, September 23, 2006
You Are 55% Left Brained, 45% Right Brained

The left side of your brain controls verbal ability, attention to detail, and reasoning.
Left brained people are good at communication and persuading others.
If you're left brained, you are likely good at math and logic.
Your left brain prefers dogs, reading, and quiet.

The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility.
Daring and intuitive, right brained people see the world in their unique way.
If you're right brained, you likely have a talent for creative writing and art.
Your right brain prefers day dreaming, philosophy, and sports.
Are You Right or Left Brained?

everything seems quite true but on the last 2 points.. i don't daydream and how i wish i had a talent for arts and creative writing.. sigh

Removing the Facade
Friday, September 22, 2006
i promised a post on this.. and here it is..

my emotions had been one heck of a roller coaster ride since monday.. monday seemed like the initial lift of any typical roller coaster.. tuesday was downhill all the way.. despite the generally good results.. and the very fact that i had improved by a whole 10points in terms of L1R5 from mid year.. there was something in my head that told me it wasn't my best.. that it was far from my best.. it was but the tip of the ice berg of what i am truly capable of... friends around me congratulated me. taunted and mocked me at my results.. which if u recall were the science, humans and english papers.. i managed a meager smile to respond to their remarks as a simple means of courtesy.. that was the main reason why i did so.. but there was a stronger point.. they didn't fair as well as me in terms of results.. telling them i was displeased with what i had may be seen as an act or a showing of my unpleasent arrogant smile which i had weilded during the start of the year in response to an ugly incident which became a battle for standing up for my morals and principles. knowing i can no longer control the devastation within me.. i scurried off towards the 4B people during the humans and EL papers.. for which i knew they would fair as well or better then me. at least i know i will be able to express the discontent i had more easily.. that seemed the other way around for humans though.. sigh..
reaching home.. the mask/facade was removed and i simply went berzerk.. i garnered all my strength and simply punched my room's door.. leaving a very much significant dent on it.. my knuckles bled but it was a minor wound.. nothing that can be compared with what i felt inside.. i had to search for an alternative avenue in which i could vent my fustration upon.. i turned to my computer.. Dawn Of War.. where i indulged myself in a cyber world where i know i am in command and began a masscre of my AI opponents.. it was to an extent a satisfying moment but it ended as soon i stopped and the feeling set back in almost immediately..
Receiving the rest of the results simply made matters worse.. my dream of entering TJC for the first 3months faded away from my grasp.. my best pals scored 13s.. 3 of them.. all aiming to land a place in TJC too.. they made it.. i didn't.. i felt inferior.. i felt stupid.. i felt as if it was the end of the world for me.. i took the results to be that of my O lvls.. i took it that seriously.. where could i go with 18points i wondered.. SJC,PJC,IJC,MI.. these were out of the question.. i found solace only when my friend told me that i still stand a chance in entering TJC.. as the points set initially was merely a guague and i may just enter.. taking that the bulk of those applying fall within my range.. which was highly immpossible..
could i simply be clinging onto a thread of "false" hope? one that could elevate me back to my normal carefree self? could i really be that desperate to enter TJC? if so why did i not work harder? what i wanted i did not attain.. what i did not want came true.. sigh..the tinge of devastation still lurked within me. i do not think that it would leave anytime soon.. not at least until i conince myself that going to any other JC would be just fine.. which obviously was not.. i had to change this mentality of mine if i wish to fully concentrate upon my O lvl preperation..
God Help Me..please..

Post Prelims Report
Thursday, September 21, 2006
came and went the papers had.. Results soon returned..

Monday
Math 1 and English Paper1 [situational writing] found its way back to us.. i was filled with nothing more than jubilation as emath1 i scored a 60/80 a first for me and EL i got 21/30.. both As.. little did i know that it was but the beginning of a rather hectic roller coaster ride..

Tuesday
returned to school with very high hopes for the remaining papers. but i was devastated immediately when i received back my English Paper 2.. a pathetic 29/50.. completely below my expectations of a B3 for that paper.. sigh.. if that was bad enuf my chem pratical came back.. my heart was filled with animosity when i got my paper back.. 4.5/15.. i simply felt like torching it and leave it behind me but the damage was done. there was little that i could do to amend it.. i could only pray for a miracle for the remaining Phy/Chem Papers.. hoping that it will bring me up back from the grasp of sheer Doom and into my relam.. Bio came next and i simply went NUTS.. an A2. my first Distinction for the Prelims! to be precise.. the first Distinction i had seen in a very long time! probably since the start of sec3! im referring to the major papers.. not the minor and insignificant class tests we have all too often.. i sat down with some of my close 4B friends whom coincidentally scored a distinction too! a sign that the paper was too easy? i doubt... many failed to gain a distinction but then again.. they seemed happy enough.. haha.. the next paper was Combined Humans.. yes.. we were receiving a whole bulk of papers.. this would definitely either make our face =D or literally saddened and become =(.. rumours had been spreading that the paper was horribly done.. my heart palpitated as i waited to receive my paper back.. i recalled that i attained a pathetic 45/100 for Mid year.. that was surely a wake up call and i aimed to score a C5 for the prelims.. but it seemed to fade away after hearing the dreadful news from my HOD that our class did horrendously.. the first paper.. SS SBQ came back.. 13/25.. sigh.. next was geog section B 15/25.. sigh.. then came the shocker.. SS SEQ 19/25.. =) and finally geog section A 14.5/25.. overall a 61.5 B4.. i was like WOW.. [insert text here].. next came Phy/Chem.. MCQ came back first.. 34/40 then phy prac 13/15.. then phy paper 51/65 and finally chem 43/65.. in total.. 72.75!! A2.. WHEEZ

Wednesday
Math came back one after another like a 3shot burst from the M-16 rifle.. everything happened so quickly.. Emath overall i got A2.. and Amath.. well.. unexpectedly.. a C6.. no idea why..

ALL in ALL.. here's the score..

EL B4
CL B4
SS/Geog B4
Emath A2
Phy/Chem A2
Biology A2
Amath C6 [sigh]

L1r4 14
L1r5 18

dun tink i can go any JC with this score.. SIGH..

note that this entry only depicts what happened in school and not outside.. therefore.. i will write another entry on that next time..

NOW THAT'S GOD

It was one of the hottest days of the dry season. We had not seen rain in almost a month. The crops were dying. Cows had stopped giving milk. The creeks and streams were long gone back into the earth. It was a dry season that would bankrupt several farmers before it was through.
Every day, my husband and his brothers would go about the arduous process of trying to get water to the fields. Lately this process had involved taking a truck to the local water rendering plant and filling it up with water. But severe rationing had cut everyone off. If we
Didn’t see some rain soon...we would lose everything. It was on this day that I learned the true lesson of sharing and witnessed the only miracle I have seen with my own eyes. I was in the kitchen making lunch for my husband and his brothers when I saw my
Six-year-old son, Billy, walking toward the woods. He wasn't walking with the usual carefree abandon of a youth but with a serious purpose. I could only see his back. He was obviously walking with a great effort ... trying to be as still as possible. Minutes after he disappeared into the woods, he came running out again, toward the house. I went back to making sandwiches; thinking that whatever task he had been doing was completed. Moments later, however, he was once again walking in that slow purposeful stride toward the woods. This activity went on for an hour: walking carefully to the woods, running back to the house.

Finally I couldn't take it any longer and I crept out of the house and followed him on his journey (being very careful not to be seen...as he was obviously doing important work and didn't need his Mommy checking up on him). He was cupping both hands in front of him as he walked, being very careful not to spill the water he held in them ... maybe two or three tablespoons were held in his tiny hands. I sneaked close as he went into the woods. Branches and thorns slapped his little face, but he did not try to avoid them. He had a much higher purpose. As I leaned in to spy on him, I saw the most amazing site.

Several large deer loomed in front of him. Billy walked right up to them. I almost screamed for him to get away. A huge buck with elaborate antlers was dangerously close. But the buck did not threaten him...he didn't even move as Billy knelt down. And I saw a tiny fawn lying on the ground; obviously suffering from dehydration and heat exhaustion, lift its head with great effort to lap up the water cupped in my beautiful boy's hand. When the water was gone, Billy jumped up to run back to the house and I hid behind a tree.
I followed him back to the house to a spigot to which we had shut off the water. Billy opened it all the way up and a small trickle began to creep out. He knelt there, letting the drip, drip slowly fill up his makeshift "cup," as the sun beat down on his little back. And it came clear to me: The trouble he had gotten into for playing with the hose the week before. The lecture he had received about the importance of not wasting water. The reason he didn't ask me to help him. It took almost twenty minutes for the drops to fill his hands. When he stood up and began the trek back, I was there in front of him.

His little eyes just filled with tears. "I'm not wasting," was all he said. As he began his walk, I joined him...with a small pot of water from the kitchen. I let him tend to the fawn. I stayed away. It was his job. I stood on the edge of the woods watching the most beautiful heart I have ever known working so hard to save another life. As the tears that rolled down my face began to hit the ground, other drops...and more drops...and more suddenly joined them. I looked up at the sky. It was as if God, himself, was weeping with pride.
Some will probably say that this was all just a huge coincidence. Those miracles don't really exist. That it was bound to rain sometime. And I can't argue with that... I'm not going to try. All I can say is that the rain that came that day saved our farm...just like the actions of one little boy saved another.
I don't know if anyone will read this...but I had to send it out. To honor the memory of my beautiful Billy, who was taken from me much too soon... But not before showing me the true face of God, in a little, sunburned body.

*~THAT'S GOD ~*
Have you ever been just sitting there and all of a sudden you feel like doing something nice for someone you care for?

THAT'S GOD! He speaks to you through the Holy Spirit

Have you ever been down and out and nobody seems to be around for you to
Talk to?

THAT'S GOD! He wants you to speak to Him.

Have you ever been thinking about somebody that you haven't seen in a long time and then next thing you know you see them or receive a phone call from them?

THAT'S GOD! There's no such thing as coincidence.

Have you ever received something wonderful that you didn't even ask for, like money in the mail, a debt that had mysteriously been cleared, or a coupon to a department store where you had just seen something you wanted, but couldn't afford.

THAT'S GOD. . He knows the desires of your heart. .

Have you ever been in a situation and you had no clue how it is going to get better, but now you look back on it?

THAT'S GOD! He passes us through tribulation to see a brighter day.

this is a chain letter i received from a friend whom recently migrated to New Zealand.. its so meaningful, would you not agree?

A Working Experience
Saturday, September 16, 2006
September 14 2006
i scruntinized my amath paper2 Prelim Paper.. ensuring that every working every number every answer was in order.. scribbling down workings on the extra sheets of paper i had to double check..
"Alright Time's Up! Put down your Pens!" our invigilator screamed into the microphone, her heading swaying left and right as she surveyed the candidates seated in the hall..
i literally dropped my pen onto the table and started packing, a wide grin crept onto my otherwise expressionless face. it was Over.. The Preliminary Examinations were OVER.. at long last! i marched over to yu heng after we were released and discussed the papers and.. we both had the same answers almost throughout! a sign of A1? i dont't know but it didn't matter much.. my hopes of entering TJC for the first 3months had been dashed by the devastating news of our horrible english results as relayed by Mrs VJ who marked our paper2 sectionA[not including summary]. from what she observed, my class did badly.. i already mentally prepared myself to see a B4 Overall with that kind of remarks.. i seriously hope i can still attain a B3.. with moderation seemingly a possible cause of action.
that was on thurs.. and the next day would be a slack day for me with nothing to do as my friends return to school to sit for their History and Literature papers.. thankfully i was offered a job by gabriel soh working as what he termed a "Sai Kang Warrior" transporting stuff for events.. with a rate of $6per hour.. which is a lot! i accepted the offer not knowing what was installed for me the very next day which i will begin work at 11am.

September 15 2006-- 1100hours
i gazed out of Kallang McDonalds' windows as the rain battered the streets. our employer was no where in sight and seconds ticked away as our working hour began.. yes it does even if the employer is late.. so yes.. we were paid to eat our lunch at McDonalds.. LOL.. nevertheless.. we made our way down to their office at Tenary lane where we enteratined ourselves till around 1.30pm.. then the work started.. we made our way to Bishan Stadium where we carried A-boards aboard the lorry and secured it.. in case you were wondering.. A-boards are those you see around the stadium during a football match bearing the names of sponsors or advertisers..
the fact that there were 4 of us and only 2 were able to sit in the lorry.. gabriel and me enthusiastically volunteered to stand on the back of the lorry where the boards are.. we sandwiched ourselves in between the boards and off we went, driving down along the expressway with the rain assialing us with dozens if not hundreds of pellets, tormenting us with sharp pains during the journey. we waved to the public as if we were politicains during their neighbourhood drive-about, attracting unwanted attention. i have pictures of this experience in my handphone but due to the fact that my phone is unable to transfer them out.. you will have to wait till i find a way to do so.. till then endure![if u want to that is]
we went on to jalan besar stadium after we unloaded the boards back at the office and this time carried massive wooden structures used as the podium during a soccer prize presentation.. similar to that you saw during the world cup when Italy won. only that it existed in parts awaiting the organizers instructions as to how they want to arrange it.. we heaved these structures, 30 of them in all from one end of the soccer field to the other end. it was no joke carrying that weight, we did it in several styles.. over the head, the conventional lifting, and well rolling it.. LOL..
the ordeal ended around 7pm and it meant we clocked about 8hours of pay.. $6 was a fixed portion, depending on our performance we may get more.. and well that i will not know exactly how much but i will get my pay from gabriel on Monday when i see him.. anyways.. we had a free taxi ride home.. so kind of the employers..

A Petition
Tuesday, September 05, 2006

Today a friend of mine showed me something interesting. It was a petition done by a Catholic High student against their principal. I have to admit, it was pretty well done, especially from a secondary 3 student.

The points that he has raised in this petition are reasonable, and it certainly does raise questions about the principal's competence and his character.

But don't take my word for it, read on and decide for yourself.

Petition Against: Mr Lee Hak Boon

1. Definitions

1.1 Within this document, Mr Lee Hak Boon shall be known as ‘the Principal’ or ‘Mr Lee’ unless otherwise stated.

1.2 Catholic High School (Secondary) shall be known as ‘School’ within this document.

1.3 The term ‘We’, and ‘Us’ is a collective term to represent the students, parents of the students, the School Alumni, and teachers of the School.

1.4 “Students” would refer to Students of Catholic High School.

1.5 “Student Leaders” or “SL(s)” means the Student Leaders Board members comprising of Student Councillors, Prefects, and the Class Management Committee.

1.6 “Prefects” would be students appointed by the school who carry school badges with a black strip with the word “Prefect”, and wear the school tie in school at all times when in full school uniform. Their task is to deal with discipline problems in the school by being part of a collective force to apprehend students in breach of them. They are part of the Prefectorial Board, which is part of the Student Leaders Board.

1.7 ‘Student Councillors’ refer to students appointed by the school to deal with affairs including, but not limited to, preparation of school activities and events, coordination of school programmes.

1.8 “Class Management Committee” refers to students who are or were Class Chairmen or Assistant Class Chairmen of their respective classes in school.

1.9 “Class Chairman” and “Assistant Class Chairman” refer to the Class Monitor and Vice-Monitor respectively.

2. State of Request

2.1. We ask that Mr Lee resign with immediate effect.

2.1.1. This is to take place and the Vice-Principal of the Primary School shall take over, either temporarily or permanently.

2.2. We request that Mr Lee to take no further part of School Activities

2.2.1. This includes, but is not limited to:

2.2.1.1. Preparation of events:

2.2.1.1.1. Children’s Day
2.2.1.1.2. Teacher’s Day
2.2.1.1.3. Youth Day
2.2.1.1.4. Racial Harmony Day
2.2.1.1.5. Chinese New Year
2.2.1.2. Catholic High Sports Night
2.2.1.3. Catholic High Annual Cross-Country

2.3. We ask that he present a formal apology to us on basis explained in: (Point 3)

2.4. The use of funds in the upgrading of the school library.

2.4.1. The buying of new books and learning resources

2.4.2. The buying of new storybooks and texts

2.5. The use of funds to get better teaching resources.

2.5.1. Relevant studies and books on subject matter

2.6. The keeping of teachers as follows, unless by choice, the tendering of resignation:
2.6.1. Mrs Alice Long
2.6.2. Mrs Melissa Neo
2.6.3. Mrs Chung Lee Siang
2.6.4. Mrs Anna Tan
2.6.5. Mr Jeffrey Goh
2.6.6. Ms Thian Wan Eng
2.6.7. Ms Leong Se Yean
2.6.8. Mr Yong Kwang Hei
2.6.9. Mr Goh Yong Han
2.6.9.1. This list is not exhaustive.

3. Reasons of Request

3.1. Mr Lee has requested the building of ponds and with due thanks to donations has made them possible. This has been detrimental to the school in the following ways:

3.1.1. These ponds are:

3.1.1.1. Pond at Car Porch in the Secondary School.
3.1.1.2. Pond outside Science Laboratories
3.1.1.3. Pond in the Primary School Premises.

3.1.2. Request for such funds to build ponds was unnecessary. This has diverted funds which could be used in better ways (Point 4).

3.1.3. High maintenance and electrical bill
3.1.4. Poor maintenance of the ponds.
3.1.5. No immediate and tangible benefits of the pond

3.2. Mr Lee has bought statues and stones or requested the donation of these them. They have had no benefit and had been detrimental.

3.2.1. The statues in question:

3.2.1.1. Statue of Eagle at Car Porch of Secondary School.
3.2.1.2. Various stones along sloping path upwards from Secondary School Car Porch to General Office.
3.2.1.3. Statue of ‘Fire’ at Plaza and the bronze statues at the Secondary School General Office car porch running to it.
3.2.1.4. 2 Statues of Lions at mini-river outside rooms of NPCC, St John’s Ambulance Brigade and NCC (Air)
3.2.1.5. Statue of hands outside of the Primary School General Office

3.2.2. Monies used to buy and maintain these statues could be diverted to other funds.

3.2.3. They have no tangible benefit for the students.

3.3. Mr Lee has scolded teachers for the high electricity bill.

3.3.1. To quote a teacher who has spoken on condition of anonymity, “That time, he complained to us that the electricity bill was high because we were staying in school and marking worksheets past 6 pm.”

3.3.2. This shows contempt for the teachers as the a school, as, to quote several Dictionaries,

3.3.2.1. Oxford Dictionary of English: “an institution for educating children.”
3.3.2.2. Longman Dictionary of Contemporary: “a place where children are taught”
3.3.2.3. Merriam-Webster Dictionary: “an institution for the teaching of children”

3.3.3. He has placed the fundamental reason for a school, a place for students to learn, below that of monetary assets. This clearly shows what he valuates. He puts the cost of electricity above student welfare.

3.3.4. According to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, after physiological needs, Safety needs need to be met, and under one of them, called the ‘Security of Employment’, is where education lies. A good education is essential to have a good, well paying job in future. Having a good job, especially one where students in future will have would mean that they would have ‘Security of Employment’. Having teachers who are unable to do their job to the best of their ability not only threatens to tarnish their ‘Security of Employment’, also threatens students’ own ‘Security of Employment’. This is of equal importance of ‘Security of revenues and resources’, however because this money comes from the government, and with coffers amounting to millions, what we see is that Mr Lee is placing an insignificant portion of money over the needs of students.

3.4. He is of unreasonable character

3.4.1. He demands a utopia of having zero latecomers.

3.4.1.1. This is very, very hard to fulfill, considering this idea of Chaos Theory, where there is always an unforeseen circumstance which can disrupt daily life, thanks to a chain of events, of which a student would not be involved in, until he gets affected negatively by being late.

3.4.1.2. He draws a comparison of being late for school to going to Changi Airport to take a plane to London at 5 am. He tells the students that they would not be late for the plane to London, but would be late school.

3.4.1.2.1. This comparison is ridiculous considering the circumstance surrounding each event. To go to school is almost a daily affair, and monotonous and is further worsened by the fact that the students lack the motivation to go to school due to what they perceive as poor leadership.

3.4.1.2.2. If any student were to London, even at any absurd time, they would be on time, there would be a sense of excitement and anxiousness. This is especially so because a plane ticket is high in cost, especially that of a ticket to Western Europe.

3.4.1.3. He caused the breaking down of a teacher in public, where when he scolded the students of Class 3-9 of 2006 for being late. Mrs Alice Long, as form teacher, defended them, and Mr Lee then blamed Mrs Long for being irresponsible and letting her students to be late. The students then told Mr Lee that it was not the fault of Mrs Long, and that they were fully to blame. He then scolded both Mrs Long, who was totally innocent, and the late students. This trauma of being scolded on absolutely no basis has made her break down.

3.4.1.3.1. Mrs Alice Long’s record as a teacher has been excellent, and has been constantly producing As in the ‘O’ Levels, and is very well respected by the students.

3.4.2. He has threatened to expel students due to a lack of punctuality.

3.4.2.1. This occurred on 14th July, 2006, during morning assembly in the Plaza. Mr Lee threatened to expel students who were late for assembly. This is unprecedented, and has no historical precedence. This is also not a rule in schools all around Singapore, and in other parts of the first world.

3.4.2.2. This harsh reality brought forward is unforgiving, where for a minute offence, a student may be expelled. This message is negative and is of resemblance to a totalitarian state.

3.5. Intentional demoralisation of the students.

3.5.1. As an educator, he knows that making harsh comments at students would result in a demoralization, which would lead to underperformance.

3.5.1.1. During the collection of the ‘O’ Level Results of 2005, to those whom came late, he called them ‘insolent brats’. This is a direct attack on a person’s morals. As an educator, he should not have done so.

3.5.1.2. During talks with the Secondary 4s of 2006, he ridiculed and insulted them for doing poorly in the ‘O’ Levels. He lashed out at many people which the Secondary 4s of 2006 respected, their direct seniors, of whom they have very good relationships with.

3.5.1.3. He has called latecomers to school ‘useless’ and ‘stupid’. These words, coming from someone whom they should respect are harsh, critical, and unforgiving. It creates a negative sentiment among the students and can affect results. This is not helpful to the school environment.

3.6. Collection of monies without proper accountability

3.6.1. He gives red packets to students during Chinese New Year, demanding that students donate money to the school. If one were to not pay up, they were to face disciplinary action.

3.6.2. The money has never been accounted for by Mr Lee, and the claim of the use of this money is the building of the school and for the funds for CCAs.

3.6.3. Money has never reached the coffers of certain CCAs which have not been performing well.

3.6.3.1. Money has been unfairly distributed where CCAs with better track records get more money. This creates a rich-poor divide between the good and the weak CCAs.

3.6.3.2. Poorer CCAs, with less funds, are unable to purchase better resources and exploit the full potential of the students. This is very detrimental to the students, as they would be unable to:

3.6.3.2.1. Maximise their full potential
3.6.3.2.2. Earn CCA Points
3.6.3.2.3. Get exposure

3.6.3.3. 2 students, during the Chinese New Year of 2005, did not adhere to the school’s demands, and were brought out for disciplinary action because they did not donate to the school

3.6.3.3.1. To donate is an act of charity, stemmed from the Latin word, charitas.

3.6.3.3.2. Charitas essentially means ‘to give’, and when a person gives, without any connotations, it can be said that he or she would give on his or her own free will.

3.6.3.3.3. This is an act of extortion, and is illegal under the Penal Code (Chapter 224), Chapter XVII, 383.

3.6.3.3.4. This form of injury is in the form of disciplinary action, which can result in caning, or worse.

3.7. Lack of standardisation and discipline

3.7.1. During the course of the 4 years Mr Lee has been here, punishment for offences has been wide-ranging and varying.

3.7.1.1. Penalty for the smuggling food out of canteen:

3.7.1.1.1. There has never been a standard punishment for those caught smuggling food outside of the canteen during recess.

3.7.1.1.2. Prefects on duty have shown lack of focus on the job. They allow people blatantly eating food out of the canteen, and only request them to go back to the canteen. When they do not do so, they do not take any action.

3.7.1.2. There is no check in the Student Lounge to disallow the smuggling of food to class.

3.7.1.2.1. This is unlike the policy of the prohibition of the removal of food from the canteen during recess. Both areas are places which students go to during recess for meals or food.

3.7.1.2.2. It is a double-standard, where one has a check-and-balance, albeit weak, while the other does not altogether.

3.7.1.3. Ankle socks are prohibited without reason in the school, yet the school is lax in the apprehension of students who do not follow this rule.

3.7.1.3.1. Student leaders have pressed for the lifting on the prohibition of ankle-length socks, however, there is no official reason as to the ban of it.

3.7.1.3.2. Students caught have multiple punishments, without a standard process of defining what punishment for when.

3.7.1.4. The consumption of food is banned in classrooms

3.7.1.4.1. This rule is not enforced within the school, and is, like the previous 2 rules, (3.7.1.1. and 3.7.1.3), tokenistic in nature.

3.7.1.4.2. The Class Chairman does not take action when this rule is broken. Student leaders are also sometimes guilty of breaking this rule.

3.7.1.5. The students are not allowed to change into the School Uniform or PE Attire in the classrooms.

3.7.1.5.1. This rule is tokenistic in nature, as there are students who change within the classroom.

3.7.1.5.2. Even against the urges of the Student Leaders, this continues.

3.7.2. Latecomers to school have never had a proper punishment.

3.7.2.1. For one, they had to sleep on the sick bay bed for a certain period of time, before they were let off to class.

3.7.2.2. That was scrapped and students were forced to walk around the school with a sign, and using a loudhailer, saying, “Let me not be the one who is late”.

3.7.2.3. It was then changed to have students being forced to stand in front of the school in morning assembly in the next day.

3.7.2.4. This lack of proper punishment systems does not help the school.

3.7.3. The moderation of the Preliminary results of the Secondary 4 batch of 2005.

3.7.3.1. Mr Lee demanded the moderation of the Prelim papers to such an extent that the Prelims were a farce.

3.7.3.2. A student with 15 points in the Prelims was allowed to enter Hwa Chong Junior College.

3.7.3.3. He refused to listen to the opinions of the other teachers and accused them of having ‘no team spirit’, and inducing ‘negative sentiment’.

3.7.4. The safety hazards within the school

3.7.4.1. As Principal, his primary concern should be the welfare of the students, and this has not been the case. He has allowed the following:

3.7.4.1.1. Inadequacy of fire extinguishers
3.7.4.1.2. Available fire extinguishers are empty
3.7.4.1.3. Usage of hose reel area for storage
3.7.4.1.4. Lack of medical equipment in first-aid kits

Sincerely,
Ho Wee Seng, Class 3-6, 2006.
And,
The undersigned.

Random Post
Lightning streaked across the night sky, bracing myself for the thunderous sound which usually accompanied it, it never came. nevertheless it was clear that rain would once more assail our little island as we are snucked comfortably into our beds sleeping through the night.. getting ready for a brand new day..
i woke up at around 9.30am this morning which is an improvement from yesterday which for some reason i woke up only at 11.25am.. yes.. i slept a full 12hours yesterday.. sigh.. wonder what actually made me so tired.. the exam stress? maybe.. with the ongoing prelims.. there is no such thing as a rest day. we are fortunate to be given this 10days of rest in between our prelims and we should really make full use of it.. but with science being the only subject left for me to study, time is a luxury i have.. which is primarily why i can afford to blog right this moment.

these are the pictures heng and me took at the RSAF open house 2006.. yes.. only the 2 of us went, weird espcially since we came from NCC air.. we figured that more would be interested.. to our dismay.. did u know these pictures took us a FULL HOUR of queueing no thanks to a cock up by STAFF Lim.. i can remember his name so vividly.. we were queueing for a while already.. and he came over and requested that we moved under a shade to wait for our turn.. my eye twitched as he led us to the Super Puma tent instead.. people rushed behind the queue we were at few moments ago at the Apache AH-64D Longbow..

Sigh.. so much for a force like nothing on earth.. yea.. his communication is like nothing on earth, his cockup is like nothing on earth.. his apologetic tone is like nothing on earth.. the fact he did nothing other then allowing us to join back at the BACK of the queue is like nothing on earth.. we counted about 45people went infront of us.. sigh..

ok.. i admit this entry is a bit random today.. i have no idea why..
but here's a quote from Pearl Harbor

These times tried our souls,
But through time we overcame.
We Were Beaten Down,
America realized for the first time they were not invincable.
We Grew Stronger.

Memories
Friday, September 01, 2006
gazing out at the startling night sky.. i relinquished the times i had spent with my primary school friends.. the laughter, mockery, pranks and simply well FUN.. the sky was unusually dotted with small but sprakling stars which accompanied the moon on this otherwise lonely night.. the very fact that i had locked myself up in my room mugging incessantly meant that i had compromised much of my social life and precious hours of well deserved sleep. sigh.. but at least i am able to take a break now.. with the RSAF open house tomorrow.. i cant wait to get myself in the cockpit of the Apache AH-64D.. the one i had seen.. researched at marvelled by the stories recounted by our very own Apache Pilots during my attachment at SBAB [ thats where the Apache are held currently ]..
the torrential downpour which battered our little island was too much to handle even for me.. i had contemplated if i should just walk in the rain towards the MRT and hop on to GMPS.. [my primary school].. it was no use.. i decided against it when the rain simply got worse.. i hailed a cab and was on my way down.. my phone seemed to have its busiest hour yet with calls after calls and sms after sms raiding my phone from primary school friends.. desperate to meet up with each other before looking up our teachers whom had moulded us to the secondary school/JC we were in..
Stepping into the HOD room.. after 3 long years of absence.. i was greeted by Luke.. one of my pals back then and still is.. lol.. he gladly opened the door for me as i walked in.. before being raided by my former classmates.. all asking whether i remembered them at all.. it was hard really.. they all had changed so much! Sze Sian.. Jeannie.. Dennis.. tab.. Erlina.. thankfully i got it right.. i do not wish to know what they would do to me if i got their names wrong. though i doubt anything would happen but better safe then sorry right? haha.. Miss Choy.. eh no.. Mrs Goh came in next and shaked my hand before chatting on the stuff people normally do when they hadn't seen each other for so long.. THEN.. i was smacked hard on the back by someone.. i initially thought it was yet another friend but i turned and i saw a farmiliar shirt.. the eagle.. the sword.. NCC logo.. OMG.. it was my cadet! the one i had took during the sec 1 camp earlier this year.. the one who entered NCC cuz i was in it? lol.. im not sure about that but that was what they replied when i asked them individually their reason for joining this CCA.. i was stunned for a moment before i replied hi.. and smiled.. he went off to his friends telling them that i was his SGT in NCC air.. well at least i know their proud to have me as their SGT.. haha..
went on to greet Mrs Soh.. and gosh.. her tone never seems to change at all! the way she talks to students when they do not greet her or if they forgot something.. it just brings back bittersweet memories..
went on to the Staff Room next.. where i was once again raided by my former schoolmates.. this time the gang from 6Dilligence.. they're a lively bunch i gotta admit.. lets see.. annabel, cindy,serene,john,jeremy,etc.. lol..
went on to find Miss Quek[Mrs Lee] and Miss Thong.. Miss Quek hadn't changed much the last time i saw her.. other than being few months pregnant now.. haha.. we talked about literally almost anything from politics.. education system.. our aspirations.. Sze Sian's IP in TJC.. [gosh thats where im going], what the name of our unborn baby will be.. haha.. yea.. loads of stuff.. that somewhat concluded our visit with a photo of us 6 Faith ppl who went of cuz.. lol.. i will upload it as soon as i get it from erlina.. =P

today being teacher's day.. thank GOD for em.. so.. i juz wanna wish all Teachers..

HAPPY TEACHER'S DAY

even those who are reading this blog.. lol
